“Soke” Wilcox, the Sensei and the entire staff of the Master’s Martial Arts Centers would like to welcome you to the study of traditional martial arts. The following material is offered as an instrument of introduction, instruction, and a means of recording your experiences in the arts. Always remember that you are following in a tradition that spans hundreds of years and can be traced back to Okinawa, Japan, and China. Be proud of your attainment in the various martial arts systems. Very few people get to study actual traditional martial arts.
Congratulations, and welcome to what I believe to be the most progressive dojo (school) in existence. You will find the atmosphere here at The Master's Martial Arts Centers both warm and friendly, as we try to encourage and challenge each other towards excellence.
You will soon be learning how to set both short- and long-range goals as well as finding out what your strengths and weaknesses are, and how to improve them.
Throughout your training here at The Master's Martial Arts Centers, we will help you to develop desire, dedication, and discipline… As compared to most styles, the traditional martial arts are more difficult to learn and teach because they contain two opposite elements: hard and soft techniques. Through the union of these opposites comes the wholeness of the original, traditional arts.
We look forward to sharing these techniques and the excitement of ongoing, challenging and exciting programs with you. Once again, welcome!!!
